January 12th, Tyrone and I walked down the gangway in the rain. I thought I would be distraught, but I was actually so excited. I had so much to look forward to. Don’t get me wrong I definitely miss the ship, but it was time to move on.

After leaving the hip we spent an amazing month traveling all over Europe. We went to Dublin, Madrid, Rome, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Brussels, Sheffield, leeds, Kirkubright, and Edinburgh. It has been a long time since I have posted anything. Sorry for my silence. My silence was not due to lack of blogging material but a time of personal reflection. This year has been so many things to me and I want to soak them all in. I want to be a better  woman because this year. I have learned lessons from the Lord, lessons from crew members, lessons from girls at the orphanage and lessons from my patients. On Friday afternoon the Africa Mercy pulled away from her home for the past consecutive 10 months and the better part of the last 4 years. Many of the crew were on deck 7 or deck 8 waving to the 20-30 faithful supporters. I was sleeping, yup I slept through the whole thing… READ MORE!

Wounded. That is how I feel. I am sick and I am tired. We went a way this weekend because the whole ship had a black out yesterday so we stayed at a beach and it was really nice to be off the ship. The moist, salty air felt good to my wounded lungs.

The last 2 weeks have been a fog. I am exhausted, 10 months of an all out sprint just feels too long… but the joy in my heart says it was worth it.

The wards are closed, the last patients left today, and now it is over.

Exhausted or not, it is over.

The memories have been made, the babies have been healed,

the patients have laughed, cried, and lifted their voices to our God.
